Captain’s Log, Day Six

Captain’s log, day six of our first real retirement voyage. Although we aren’t totally retired. And except that I am not the captain. And I’m putting this here on May 26th instead of May 24th because we had no wifi at all for a couple of days. Weird, I know.
We anchored in Green Bay today; no relation to the Packers.
After a bouncy ride from the marina that had harboured us while the Captain got the medical attention he needed, we chugged down Agamemnon Channel to this peaceful anchorage. There are no other boats here, just us. There is a smattering of cottages but no sign of life in any of them some look quite deserted. Chunks of the shoreline have for sale signs littered about.
Near where the boat swings on her anchor, on the shore is a waterfall. It’s ferociously tossing fresh water down the hill. Makes me wonder how much power you could get if you harnessed the flow. It’s quite noisy; but who can complain about that?
The only challenging part of this place is that there are limited places where it is possible to go ashore with the dogs. The terrain in most of the bay angles steeply up to mossy hills. And in fact, because the land is all privately owned we shouldn’t be going past the shoreline above the tide line, even if we were able. So we have taken the dogs ashore a couple…
