Captain’s Log, Day Thirty-One, Again
June 18, 2022
OK, here’s the thing. Apparently, I wrote day thirty-one twice. Forgot I started and began another. So you get a flashback. Here it is…
Last full day of our voyage. Weird. Several other boats joined us in the bay today, most with kids. That was awesome.
A couple of the families who had rafted their boats up together were letting their kids lose. They knew how to row and were taking themselves back and forth to the shore and around. The youngest looked about five and was very competent. He rowed to shore and tied the dinghy to a big log before loping off to play with the other two kids.
There was another boat with a boy about the same age. He seemed to lose his mind a couple of times at one point calling out in a rage “this is the worst day ever”. Then he got mad at his parents for laughing at him although they were actually trying to figure out how to help him.
There was also a tragic incident concerning an eagle and a goose. Two eagles swooped down and attacked a loan goose swimming along. It looked way too big a critter for an eagle to pick up out of the water.
Then we watched as one of the eagles returned again and again to attack, the goose raising its wings and flapping. Unfortunately, it looked like it might have been injured…
