Captain’s Log Day Three, Part One

Well apparently one of the three people I know for sure are reading these Logs (and one of those is the actual Captain) wants a bit more detail. So I will reveal.
The boat we are travelling on is a 47- foot ex-mission boat. It was commissioned to serve the coastal communities of northern British Columbia by the Anglican church back in 1929. She saw storms and ran aground at least once. The Ministers aboard performed baptisms, marriages, and burials. Took people in remote communities to hospitals, and towed lesser boats. Transported farm animals but not pack horses, which they declined. The vessel was used to carry groceries, mail, teachers and those out on bail. She also carried a man off to jail who had murdered his partner.
Logging camps, First Nations communities, lighthouses, fishing and mining camps, canneries, and what are described as “settlements” were all among the places they journeyed. The stories are endless. I should write more about these as some are quite incredible.
In 1962 the Northern Cross was decommissioned and sold to the first of several new owners. We purchased her in 2011 and she became our permanent home after we sold our house in 2020.
We have not had much opportunity to do all of the boating we would have liked until now. The parenting…
