Captain’s log, day thirty-two of our first real retirement voyage. Although we aren’t totally retired. And except that I am not the captain.

So we arrived home in the late afternoon after a peaceful trip across calm waters. The dogs appeared pleased to see a familiar dock and even happier when a couple of neighbours stopped by to welcome us home.

It was Father’s Day here in Canada that day and two of our kids were around so we went to the pub down the street with them for supper. Partly in truth because I did not want to cook. We had a lovely dinner and one of our sons stayed overnight.

We showered and enjoyed the prospect of unlimited hot water.

When we walked the dogs ashore they had to sniff every single blade of grass to see who had been there while they were gone.

It was wonderful to be away in nature for all those days but it is also nice to get home. This may sound odd being that this boat is our home. But the dock and marina here are our community and we love so many aspects of our life in this place.

Tomorrow I will face the task of doing lots of laundry, getting a few groceries and responding to some emails etc that I have been ignoring. Oh, and perhaps pay a few bills. Or maybe not.

Here are a couple of photos. There will be some posts coming soon with those I’ve been able to download from my real camera so stay tuned.
