Maybe it's part of a a much bigger problem. Not caring enough for one another. And you are right, many elders are left alone without anyone. Do you have siblings? I have found myself much more connected to mine as I age. Our parents are long gone and I find myself as the youngest being the one who is very engaged supporting my big brother.
