Most definitely there are places in the world where poverty would impact any but the cold-hearted. Not sure where you live but we have much to be grateful for in North America. However much needs to be changed here too. We have vast disparities in distribution of wealth and people who live in ways that they shouldn't need to in countries that can afford to do better. But you are right, not having to worry about rabid dogs on the street is not one of the challenges we face!
