My son was clean for four years and in that time he talked about how he never wanted to go back to that life of desperately craving that next fix. So there is some relief for me in knowing he's not living that way. But still, I just want the healthy him back. Meanwhile, we live with our memories of the good times with him of which there are many. And yes, addiction is hell. For the addicted and all who love them.
