Adoption of older children is not for the faint-hearted; for sure some of our kids had experiences that made it hard for them to trust and to form good attachments. Our son who this story is about turned out a joyful kid who had a real zest for life. Unfortunately, he was plagued by addiction for most of his adult years. Still, he had a good life and there was a lot of love.
