I have found with my son who died last year that talking about him and sharing stories is helpful, not more painful.

That is certainly not how I was raised. Hard things were put in the back cupboard and not spoken about. So many things I wondered about as a child that were not to be discussed. Relatives we did not talk to, my deceased brother and so on. I am glad I've learned to do differently.
