We can't expect kids to simply set aside trauma they have endured through lives in foster care. Statistically, kids from care are way more likely to end up in jail, homeless etc. for a variety of reasons. While this wasn't the case with the Crumbley's son it does sound as though he had unmet emotional needs. When your parents aren't there for you this can be very devastating as turned out here.
