Wow, the role you took on as a caregiver at such a young age. What a good person. Not everyone is willing to make that kind of life commitment even to those they love deeply.

I understand TBI's. One of my kids was hit by a car when he was 13. He was in a coma for weeks and in hospital for three months. He came home in a wheelchair which shifted to a cane and now can walk unaided albeit not with the same balance. He is not the same person he was. He requires support in most areas of his life and lives in a house where others help care for him. In British Columbia where I live this is possible and funded through the government. We have a close relationship but he is now 32 and is not the man he would have been without the TBI; can't play sports, and has not the same cognitive abilities. It's hard for him and for those who love him.
