Yes, a child who has experienced trauma is not going to set it aside as if it never happened. It's funny that so many people think that's how it works. Even if they are very young and can't articulate what happened to them it's still there. Preverbal memory, lived experience of trauma, even prenatal exposures are all going to play a part in how a person develops. Understanding all these things is important and I think many families do not.
